Check out the tree that was decorated by the SCW Builders Club for the Annual Festival of Trees in Urbanna! And, most importantly, don't forget to vote for our tree!!
Voting is open to the public by ballot (located on the fence of the Town Green) and by votes on the Urbanna Facebook page. Voting begins at 5pm on Friday, December 1st through Saturday, December 2nd at 3pm. Winners will be announced at the lighting of the trees.
On Nov. 17th - Nov. 19th the SCW TSA Executive Council went to Camp Piankatank to attend the annual Virginia TSA Leadership Academy. Our Executive Council participated in leadership and camp activities including a mystery adventure, making a movie trailer, and leadership scenarios. Also on Nov. 18th some of our chapter members participated in the TSA Fall Competition, also at Camp Piankatank, and placed in the following events: Joshua Huntaly placed 3rd in Flight. Bella Bagby placed 3rd in Essays on Technology. In the Dragster event, Mason Fochtmann placed 1st, Jacob Smith placed 2nd, and Kyla Blazek placed 5th. Xavier Morning placed 5th in Structural Engineering

SCWMS Builders Club officers presented at last night's Middlesex Kiwanis Club meeting. After which, the Kiwanis Club presented Dr. Elizabeth Sanders with a check to help support various programs and projects at SCWMS.
Career and life readiness students were tasked with designing and creating a model for an interesting new balloon for the Macy's Thanksgiving parade! They were given a budget and criteria that had to be met. Next, came the creation! The creativity was awesome!

8th graders had a special treat in science on Halloween! Students participated in a spooky sublimation lab with dry ice as they continued exploring the properties of water.

Attention parents and guardians of 8th grade students! Important information about winter sports tryouts:
JV Girls' Basketball: November 6 at SCW from 3:30 to 5:00
JV Boys' Basketball: November 6 at SCW from 5:30 to 7:00
Wrestling: November 6 at MHS from 3:30 to 5:00
Winter Cheer: November 13 & 14 at MES from 3:30 to 5:00
Swim: November 13, 14 & 16 at the Kilmarnock YMCA from 4:45 to 6:00
Scholastic Bowl: November 6 at MHS from 3:15 to 4:00
Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA to be eligible for tryouts.
A current VHSL Sports Physical is required for all participants except for Scholastic Bowl.
Parents must provide a note giving permission to stay after school/ride a transfer bus to MHS for tryouts.
Save the date for PTA's Paint Night Fundraiser! Flyers will be sent home with students tomorrow. $25 to paint a ceiling tile and Chick-fil-A meals can be pre-ordered.
