You are free to come anytime during the open house hours. Dr. Wright, the CBGS Director, will be presenting information about the program and application process in the campus auditorium at 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00.
This video provides a brief introduction to CBGS, which is a half-day program that students apply for in 9th grade and attend for math and science in 10th-12th grades.

Very soon, your school will be having an information session where you can learn more about The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School for Marine and Environmental Science, how it can benefit your child, and how to apply for admission to the program. Cell phones and social media are ever-present parts of adolescent life. The adolescent brain has been compared to a car with no brakes. It goes fast but may not stop until it runs into something! Connect hundreds of adolescent brains in a virtual world where every impulse or thought is magnified and shared, and the risk expands exponentially. Adolescence is all about learning and practicing social skills, and normal lapses in judgment can quickly drift into cyberbullying.
There are a variety of resources that parents can use to reduce the odds of Cyberbullying. Today we are sharing “ReThink”, one free online resource.
What is ReThink?
ReThink™ is an non-intrusive, innovative, award-winning, patented technology that aims to detect and stop cyberbullying before the damage is done. Here is a quick overview of how ReThink works:
In the heat-of-the-moment, a teen or tween tries to post potentially offensive content
Patented ReThink technology detects the content
ReThink provides in-the-moment nudge to “ReThink” before posting
Teens and tweens take a moment to pause and consider the impact of their actions
Online hate is stopped before the damage is done. Teens and tweens build crucial impulse-control skills

Challenge of the Week: We have to name it. Please look for opportunities to talk with your child about what bullying is, and what it is not.
"Bullying" means any aggressive and unwanted behavior that is intended to harm, intimidate, or humiliate the victim; involves a real or perceived power imbalance between the aggressor or aggressors and victim; and is repeated over time or causes severe emotional trauma. "Bullying" includes cyberbullying. "Bullying" does not include ordinary teasing, horseplay, argument, or peer conflict.
"Cyberbullying" means bullying that occurs through the use of technology, including through cell phones and other electronic devices or technology capable of accessing the Internet.

We are so grateful for our volunteer, Mary Lorenzino, who made Dolly Parton Day at SCW possible! It was a high-energy day! Students and staff dressed up as their favorite book characters. All who participated received a freeze pop. The most exciting part was that every student took a book home for their personal library! Thank you, Mrs. Lorenzino!

Early voting starts TODAY — September 18!
The November 3, 2026 General Election is approaching, and Middlesex County voters will have a proposed 1% general retail sales tax referendum on the ballot. The referendum asks whether the county should add the tax to provide revenue solely for the construction or major renovation of Middlesex County Public Schools.
