An immersive, real-world learning experience centered on running a bakery, students applied their math skills to solve contextual problems, followed by a hands-on session where they baked cakes and cookies.
Developed & facilitated by our 5th grade math teachers & math coach, students engaged in activities that involved scaling recipes to adjust batch sized, precise measurement, and financial literacy. The highlight of the experience was a "grand opening," where students welcomed teachers and staff to sample their decorated sweet treats. The activity successfully engaged students, demonstrating the practical application of their mathematical knowledge!

Our 4th grade students had an incredible day at the Oyster Festival Education Day! 🔬They dove into hands-on field and lab studies, examining oyster populations and learning firsthand about Chesapeake Bay ecology and conservation.
