St. Clare Walker Middle School honored Mr. John Henry St. Clare Walker by celebrating his 140th birthday today, January 22. During a schoolwide assembly, we recognized essay winners, Hailey Pettyjohn (6th grade), Lillian Ranger (7th grade), and Riley Depping (8th grade). Last week, students were given the prompt, Why do we honor John Henry St. Clare Walker in the name of our school? How might his contributions in the past impact the future? What can each of us do to advance his legacy? After reviewing over 200 essays, the winners were chosen. Winners received a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card and a large candy bar. All students received cupcakes at lunch.
