SCW teachers received a special treat from the Middlesex Moose Lodge! Each teacher was awarded a $100 Amazon gift card to support their classroom needs. The Moose Lodge also made a generous donation to our field trip fund so that we can offer more hands-on experience outside of the classrooms. We are extremely grateful!

Attention parents and guardians of 8th grade students! Important information about winter sports tryouts:
JV Girls' Basketball: November 6 at SCW from 3:30 to 5:00
JV Boys' Basketball: November 6 at SCW from 5:30 to 7:00
Wrestling: November 6 at MHS from 3:30 to 5:00
Winter Cheer: November 13 & 14 at MES from 3:30 to 5:00
Swim: November 13, 14 & 16 at the Kilmarnock YMCA from 4:45 to 6:00
Scholastic Bowl: November 6 at MHS from 3:15 to 4:00
Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA to be eligible for tryouts.
A current VHSL Sports Physical is required for all participants except for Scholastic Bowl.
Parents must provide a note giving permission to stay after school/ride a transfer bus to MHS for tryouts.
Save the date for PTA's Paint Night Fundraiser! Flyers will be sent home with students tomorrow. $25 to paint a ceiling tile and Chick-fil-A meals can be pre-ordered.
SCW's Virginia Rules Club sponsored a door decorating contest for Red Ribbon Week. Mrs. Evans is the winner! Shout out to Ms. Burch, Mrs. Henrich, Dr. Parks, and Mrs. Henrich!
Thanks to the Urbanna Oyster Festival Marine Legacy Program, 7th grade students had a hands-on experience with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The boat trips were great opportunities for students to learn more about the local ecosystem.

Attention parents/guardians of 8th grade students: MHS will be having an information session where you can learn more about The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School for Marine and Environmental Science, how it can benefit your child, and how to apply for admission to the program. The video linked below will provide a brief introduction to CBGS, which is a half-day program that students apply for in 9th grade and attend for math and science in 10th-12th grades.

The 8th Grade Outlaw Dragster Challenge is back for the 1st Trimester Technology Education 8th grade students. 8th grade students were challenged to design and build CO2 dragsters that were raced against each other to determine the fastest dragster. The student with the fastest dragster of the year gets their name permanently engraved in the Outlaw Dragster Challenge plaque found in the SCW Technology classroom. For 1st block, Ava Fomin had the fastest time of 0.754 seconds with an average speed of 46.118 mph. For 2nd block, Sophia Sandlin had the fastest time of 0.670 seconds with an average speed of 51.9 mph.
